From 29 January to 20 March 2010 the exhibition "Post Oil City" - Die Stadt nach dem Öl", a cooperation project between the Institute for Foreign Relations e.V./ifa Gallery in Stuttgart and the journal for architecture and urban planning, ARCH+, took place in the ifa Gallery in Stuttgart. Not only innovative urban projects with the focus on sustainability (energy and construction) and mobility (energy and transport) in Asia, Africa and America were on display as Makrolon® multi wall sheets again were used in the design of the exhibition and information boards.
The translucent multi wall sheet Makrolon® multi UV 3/16-16 in white 1146 was used. The material was selected due to its high flexibility in design as well as its excellent processing qualities. Large-scale prints decorate the otherwise monochromatic sheets to be eye-catching for visitors who have come to learn about architectural sustainability of future urban systems and transport concepts. The translucent structures of the multi wall sheets add a touch of magic to the information boards. Informative reports embedded in short films are transported over flat screens which are integrated in the sheet, to offer visitors to the gallery a multi-media experience. The low area weight and high rigidity made the sheets an obvious choice for hanging the material from the ceiling as well - "levitation" so to speak, thus rounding off the overall design of the rooms.
If you are curious to find out more but missed the exhibition at the ifa Gallery in Stuttgart, you can see it at the ifa Gallery in Berlin from 16 - 18 April 2010. Entrance to the exhibition is free.
